Art for me

Sat Mar 3, 2007, 5:45 AM
  • Mood: Noble
  • Listening to: Enigma - A Posteriori - Goodbye Milkyway
  • Reading: John Cooke - Waterscapes
I am studying Arts these days, I am reading its rich history, influential movements, notable artists and different styles.

I have just created a revolution in my thoughts, I am already very sensitive and sincere to things around me, but now its seems that I have another eye, to observe things, I can clearly see why those were made and why the artist wanted them appear that way. I can tell the influences on few things by now, I already had access to a basic ideology of Art, but as I study further I feel I am in a new world.

Yet, I am also amazed, that most of the young people working for Art today are not into this state, they surely are heading for good, but they don't know the direction, when you lost direction, it takes very long to reach your desired destination. I already know that all these conclusions are not new and surely not mine, but I want to share what I feel, I see this for good of others.

More or less, I am able to absorb it into myself, although this enormous information is too much for my so young and inexperienced state of being, but I am inspired, exhilarated, and dedicated to it, all these things surely fuel creativity.

I have made a good use of time so far, I am into Automobile, Computers and Graphics from a fair long time, this is a protocol to accept, and a platform to deploy my Art.

I today at least know my type, I know where I am heading and I am very much dedicated and committed, I am reading each and everything written for Art I come across, even I know that I have to work only for the styles that are for me.

But I have jumped, dived into this ocean and I want to reach its dead bottom. I feel my self in a new world, I am in a selfless state.

Previously I only felt what I liked, but now I can tell what I like, I like Architecture that is made under Bauhaus school of thought, and I appreciate De Stijl.

Let me express that there is an artist in everybody, there is creativity in everybody, study and research are the ways to liberate those ideas from your subconscious to your conscious, fast, rather very fast.

I always liked Minimalistic things so I still do, since I am very imaginative and I live in a world of dreams, I like Surrealism from the day first.

No matter how much modernized and western influenced I am, I do feel very sad for the decline of Persian, Eastern and Ottoman style of Art, I am working and I will surely work for my Heritage.

One of Art's gift to me is that I see the different Civilizations of this world with respect today, I love all the things that human beings have developed so far, I salute all the untiring efforts.

تمام افراد بشر آزاد به دنیا می‌آیند و از لحاظ حیثیت و حقوق با هم برابرند, همه دارای عقل و وجدان می‌باشند و باید نسبت به یک دیگر با روح برادری رفتار کنند

All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.

Art surely cleans your heart and refreshes your soul, and puts you closer to Almighty, you know your origin and your destination.

Thanks for your reply

But I see very few Artists guiding others, I am very new to Art, but I know I have found what I always wanted and I want to share it.

Very true, if you feel interest in typography, you can excel in it, people will be using your fonts for years to come.

I have a book called Branding with Type, I learned a lot from this book.

Ahmed,
Sounds like a plan! From the time I was a child I knew that I was going to be an artist. It's a good feeling when you know you are on the right path. Good luck on your journey my friend!

It's always really cool to watch people discover the history of art and all the wonderful things that have been created over time. To watch and see how things have developed over time and how people learned from one another.

I had a double major from school: history and art, so obviously there's a personal preference there, but still think history is incredibly important for anyone to learn (and not just art). Thousands and thousands of people who came before us had some really great (and sometimes really stupid) ideas, and there's no reason we should all start from zero, reinventing the wheel each time. All that knowledge out there, it needs to be used - it wants to be used!

There's never an end of things to learn, so always remember that the best artists never stop learning and growing.

It's really neat to see you discovering this and using it to find a new direction for yourself as well. It's interesting to hear you talk about the old islamic art forms. I'm Canadian (and look that way), but my mom is Persian, so I'm well familiar with those old forms and it's great whenever I hear anybody who wants to revive the forms (I don't have the discipline to do any proper geometric or tiled artwork like the clasic high islamic stuff... that and I'm too obsessed with people's faces). Not that I expect you'll just copy old forms, you've already got a style all your own, so whatever you make will be entirely your own.

I can't wait to see what you put together with all these new influences.

Thanks Mr. Henderson,

I would like to have written that I came from a family of Artists. Not such.

The last pages of my school copies were always littered with all kinds of drawings, personally I believe there is an Artist inside everybody.

The change came in 1997, I got my hands on a 586 PC. I worked on various fields within computers including Web Designing and Graphics, my work with paper was limited in recent years, until, in 2006 I felt that I cannot express myself to its full.

I wanted powerful artistic flow and ease of my hands using traditional mediums, while knowing the mouse is always trying to go in X and Y axis. I also realized the physical worth of Traditional Art as I went further.

I purchased the supplies I needed and loaded all that into a trolley that we made out of black painted iron tubes with silver fiber glass trays. I also purchased a good scanner to deliver my sketches to Photoshop and Flash etc.

Now I can practice both Digital and Traditional while I am studying.

If I had not seen the works of Syed Mead, Angus McKie, Paul Granger, and more importantly Don Henderson, I would not have felt that urge for action.

With a mentor like you, I am sure to be on the right way, Sir.

I don't think I'm in the same league with those folks, but thanks! I'm glad to have been able to provide you with inspiration! I would like to get back into drawing and painting again. My 3rd floor studio is still set up to do fine art, but I've been so busy working on the computer, it's tough to get back into it.

Mr. Henderson,

Though it was not possible without today's resources, but I have seen some of the world's finest work, but I haven't seen such style and colours as you deliver, and that too, with a medium (vectors) that is not much respected and powerful yet.

You have provided me great inspiration, you just take a look at my gallery, my work will show you the influence, I was working with Flash since 1999, but I was not creating vector Art, I saw your work, I tried, you appreciated, I gained confidence.

I am pleased that you are not satisfied with your work, this means that you are taking your work to even greater heights.

Not all Artists are this kind to the beginners, you are not working for your own, you're working for Art. So you're very different.

I feel myself lucky with all the equipment and I praise the kindness of Almighty, for giving me the heart and eyes to appreciate Art.

I have seen pictures of your studios! I love all the creative stuff and those books and rare artifacts!

Though English is not my language, I don't know how to write it properly, and I am so new to Art, but I am surprised to see talented Artists posting at my journals, Matthew Westberg has written a really nice message below!

I must praise how well you have written.

I completely agree with you.

As I started studying Humanities, History became one of my favorite subjects, I also take interest in Civics and all the social sciences.

History always come to help. Not only we can read the whole consensus of a person's lifetime in few minutes, but we also come to know where did he made mistake, so we should avoid, same goes for even a Civilization.

I am very pleased for your interest towards intricate geometric and pattern Art that was taken up by Islamic Artists.

Persia is of great inspiration to me due to its deep, rich and glorious Art and Culture.

Urdu in written and vocal originated mostly from Persian Language.
